True Religion

Do not underestimate the negative impact on women and children when there is no father in the home…

It doesn’t matter if it’s here in the U.S. or in Iraq — this is where the Church can step up and have an incredible impact!

James 1:27 says, “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.”

I think we need to look at kids who don’t have dads in the home as orphans. That’s how it is in the Middle East.

When a woman loses her husband to death or war or whatever, she’s considered a widow because seldom will she remarry — she’s considered damaged goods. And that kid is raised without a father.

That aspect is very sad in that society, but this creates an opportunity for us to share the love of God with them in practical ways.

I’ve gone 16 times over to Iraq as part of humanitarian efforts, and I’ve never had a Muslim turn me down for prayer. Not once.

Someone once asked me, “How many are converting? How many are coming to Christ?” I responded, “Well, I don’t have a clicker; I’m not putting notches in my Bible.” He said, “Are you preaching the gospel?”

I said, “I’ve been reduced to living it.”
