A New Militia
It is official. The proponents of defunding the police want to replace them. With themselves.
Isn’t it interesting that those who loudly make the call to defund the police consistently insist on policing the thoughts and word of others? They want to control words, that is the words of others, imposing their rules and regulations upon all and if for one moment, someone disagrees with what these thought and word police have in mind, cancel culture is waiting in the wings, ready to rise against them, shouting them down, putting them in vocal restraints and as can be evidenced in too many cases, becoming physically violent. Their ammo is to become the filter through which everyone else passes while they remain unrestrained in their thoughts, words, and deeds.
Whatever happened to freedom of speech? Are we no longer living in a democracy? Has the land of the free and the home of the brave given way to the land of the captive and the home of the coward? Is there anything sacred? Do we espouse Godly and good values?
Once upon a time, all across America, in institutions of learning, students were encouraged to engage in discussion and form opinions. It was understood that there was a foundational framework or viewpoint upon which they could draw from and that they had the liberty to partake in conversations and arrive at their own conclusions without interference or fear of harm from others. Even if they were not taught Biblical principles at home, they would see them reflected in various segments of society. It was not strange for them to come in contact with a scripture that was written somewhere or a Biblical value that was being passed on by someone they came in contact with in. Among other things, children were taught to treat others right, respect their elders and themselves and others point of view.
Now, they are told what to think by leftist elitists and taught that anyone who disagrees with them is their enemy and not worthy of respect. They are also told by these elitists that they can behave radically and become enforcers of rogue ideologies, punishing those who dare to disagree. How far we have strayed from the foundational truths that made us a country that others would go through great peril to get to. A stanza from the Black National Anthem says, “lest our feet stray from the places our God where we met thee, Lest our hearts drunk with the wine of the world we forget thee, Shadowed beneath thy hand, may we forever stand, True to our God, True to our native land.” Herein lies the problem…we are no longer true to God and His Word, which governed (form of police) us and provided the basis from which we viewed and assessed everything else. Our feet have strayed and our hearts are drunk with the wine of the world. It is no wonder then that the powers that be are seeking to remove the police…”the department of government concerned primarily with maintenance of public order, safety and health and enforcement of laws and possessing executive, judicial and legislative powers” (Merriam-Webster) and replace it with themselves and their agenda so that they can police… “perform the functions of a police force in or over” (Merriam Webster)our society. Brothers and Sisters, it’s praying time.
